The concept of CAE, Eurocopter, Rheinmetall Defence Electronics and Thales for developing the NH90 full mission simulators represents the state of the art for highly complex simulation technology in the world.

The crews may use the full mission simulators to comprehensively train conventional flight operations as well as a wide variety of scenarios and battle situations. One focus of the training will be tactical situations, e.g. day and night flights with external loads as well as poor visibility flights and sensor flights.

A digital battlefield generates tanks, ground forces, guided surface-to-air-missiles, command centres, helicopters, fighter jets, naval vessels or submarines. All elements are integrated in a dynamic scenario, exhibit tactical behaviours in accordance with the operational principles, and are connected to the sensor platforms and the ECM system of the NH90 – a system for electronic countermeasures. The high-tech simulators will exhibit absolute realism, a high degree of availability, and longevity.
