Long-term Perspective

In December 2004, the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement ( BWB ) in Koblenz concluded an agreement with HFTS containing a detailed description of the comprehensive performance spectrum from the development via the production to the operation of the NH90 training centres.

The industrial consortium will design, produce, and operate four simulators in three NH90 training centres in Bückeburg, Faßberg (both located in Lower Saxony) and Holzdorf (Brandenburg). The total value of the contract that runs until the year 2022 amounts to 488 million Euro. The first stage, which commenced in January 2005, involves the design, development, and production of four full mission simulators for the NH90 including the infrastructure of the three training centres.

An operating period of fourteen and a half years will follow. This period begins mid of 2008 upon the operational readiness of the first training centre and ends in 2022. At least 16,000 simulator hours will be provided per annum. HFTS will provide the entire infrastructure and ensure the unrestricted training and exercise use for the NH90 crews throughout the operating period. The German Armed Forces will provide the training personnel.
